Teens are at that age, where they are starting to gain more freedom from adults telling them what to do. From this, they may not know yet how to make wiser decisions, so they are more vulnerable to ​be pressure into certain situations that might have not been the correct choice.

Higher Expectations/ Pressure to Succeed

Due to so many different forms of standardized testing that students take throughout their school life, especially APs, SAT, ACT, and SAT Subject tests, there is so much pressure for the student to well on exams. This can then lead to an increase in anxiety. Students also feel that nowadays, the standards for academic achievement are higher. Thus, they have to work more to achieve their goals.
