How does coloring help anxiety? 

  • Calms & soothes recurring negative thoughts

  • It relieves a nerve in your brain called the amygdala, which is activated upon stress

  • Simple but works

  • Being able to be artistic and let your mind run free

What can I color? 

  • You can color anything that you want to. 

  • You can color from a coloring book, which can easily be found at a dollar store. 

  • If you don't want to buy a book you can go on the internet and search for a coloring page that you can color.

    • Topics can include ​

      • Flowers​

      • Mandalas 

      • Animals

      • Space

      • Flowers 

      • Cartoon Characters 

      • Quotes 

      • Food 

      • Holidays 

      • Vehicles 

      • Seasonal 

      • etc.

How does journaling help with anxiety?

  • Helps you prioritize worries, fears, and concerns

  • It helps you to track day-to-day symptoms so that you can learn about different triggers that causes your anxiety. 

  • You can also track if you tried anything that helped calm you down after your anxiety attack 

  • Providing an opportunity for positive self-talk and identifying negative thoughts and behaviors

What should I write about? 

  • Write down whatever is on your mind, so you don’t keep on thinking about it

  • Write down a positive message to look back on when you're down.

If you are stuck... possible writing prompts

  • Write an inspirational quote that has meaning to you

  • Write a letter about your day or week

  • Creat bucket, favorites, wish, worries, or dream vacations lists 

  • Write about how school or work has been going 

  • Write about important turning points in your life 

  • Write goals that you have for yourself 

  • After you meditate, write about your experience
