What is Therapy? 

Therapy is a  medical treatment that purpose is to remediate a health problem.  

How does therapy help anxiety? 

  • Uncover the underlying causes of your worries and fears

  • Helps you learn how to relax

  • Teaches you ways to views situations in new, less frightening ways 

  • Help you develop better coping and problem-solving skills

  • Provides support 

  • Helps you minimize anxiety to a controllable level

Types of Therapy 

  • Therapy can either be individual or group 

  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) 

    • Examines your negative thoughts ​to come up with different ways to manage anxiety 

  • Exposure Therapy 

    • Usually goes along with CBT​

    • Examines more of your negative thoughts by imagining and our doing something that you fear, then pair it with something that is relaxing to lessen your fear 

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

    • Focusing and acting more upon your values in life, rather than your fear 

  • Family Therapy 

    • The one with anxiety and its close relative family members  work with a therapist to come up with ways to help relieve the anxiety for the person

  • Psychoanalytic Therapy

    • Looks back into your past to see if there is anything from the past that is triggering your anxiety now ​

  • Interpersonal Therapy

    • Primarily used for when you get anxiety because of a relationship with someone ​

      • Ex: social anxiety disorder or ​separation anxiety disorder 

Therapy Support Center 

There is many different support and therapy center out there, you just need to find the one that works the best for you.
